I’m back for dress-up

According to CCH, 41% of employers participating in a new survey state that people who dress better or more professionally tend to be promoted more often than others in their organization. Of course, 55% of financial services folks tend to be more snobby or “professional” in the area of appearance. On the other hand, most of my clients will be pleased to learn that only 37% of IT employers think the best dressed folks tend to be promoted more often than others.

My recommendation is to require people to wear clean clothes, no rips/tears, no underwear showing, they should not smell, and judge them based on performance rather than taste in clothing. That’s the road to Success With People.
